
Orientation on Entrepreneurship Program in GST Profession, Basudev Somani College, Mysuru
With the introduction of Goods & Services Tax Act in 2017, it has opened the flood gates for self-aspiring young graduates in commerce & management to pursue their career in GST Profession. An Orientation programme for the Final year students of BCOM and BBA students was conducted on 14th June 2022 between 11:00 am to 2:00 pm in the Seminar Hall of the College in the presence of Mr. Kuber P. Gowda, Secretary of the Institute of Education Trust.
The program was jointly hosted by EduElevate, Bangalore with the IQAC of Basudev Somani College, Kuvempunagar, Mysuru. Mr. Karthik Kumar – Managing Director, Prof. Shankar Narayana Rao – Director and Dr. Srivats R –Director were present in the program on behalf of EduElevate.
The program was inaugurated with a novel idea of watering the plants inside the Seminar Hall. The program commenced with an invocation song rendered by Miss Pooja of Final year M.Com. Miss Nischitha, student of II year BBA welcomed the gathering.
Prof. Shankar Narayana Rao, Director, EduElevate spoke on the occasion and explained the need for GST practitioners in the present scenario. He explained step by step process involved to become a GST practitioner. He urged the students to pursue their career in GST area by acquiring right skill and experience in the tax domain.
Mr. Karthik Kumar, Managing Director, EduElevate spoke on the occasion and narrated his story of various challenges faced as an entrepreneur. He also invited students whose parents are entrepreneurs and asked them to explain the nature of job or profession their parents are doing. He urged the students to become more and more enterprising, adventurous and face the challenges in their lives.
Mr. Kuber P. Gowda, Secretary spoke on the occasion and explained his own examples of being an entrepreneur though he did his technical education. He encouraged the students to become more innovative and invited them to accept challenges in the life to become successful persons. He himself has set an example of giving jobs to small entrepreneurs.
Following the address by Mr. Kuber P. Gowda, Secretary of Institute of Education Trust, Dr. Mahadeva Swamy, Principal, spoke on the occasion and explained the scope for self-employment in GST area. 38 out of 53 students attended the program have shown interest in this course.
This was followed by the Vote of Thanks by Ms. Priyanka, student of II year B.Com. The program was compeered by Miss Navya, student of II year BBA.
